It's Been a While....

Wow, I haven't updated my blog for a very very long time! Life has been really good and really busy. Cayla is getting so big and is learning so much. She lights up our day everyday!! She is sooo happy and so much fun! She's very independent and thinks she can do everything on her own. She just recently started feeding herself her bottle (she's getting better at it, at first milk was getting everywhere!). She rolls around everywhere and we think she's going to be crawling soon. She has a smile on her face all of the time...even for strangers. Me and Cade just love being parents and can't imagine what our life would be like without this little angel. I have so many pictures I need to put on here, but we'll start with her 6 month photos for now :)

Halloween Fun and D's Birthday!

We had our little halloween get-together here at our house and it was a blast! It was so much fun dressing up our little Cayla, carving pumkins, eating chile, drinking home-made rootbeer and just being with the fam! It was also D's 9th birthday, so we had fun celebrating that. I made some pretty delicious upside down pumpkin filled chocolate cupcakes for his "birthday cake". Thanks Paula Deen :)! I love this time of year!

I can't believe she's already 5 weeks old! I've been needing to post some pictures of her on my blog, but haven't gotten around to doing it! She is such a sweet little baby and we are having so much fun with her. She was a big baby to begin with weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz and she's still growing like crazy and now weighs a little over 11 lbs! I had to have an emergency c-section after laboring for about 23 hours (her heart rate dropped dangerously low). It definitely wasn't in my birth plan, but we made it through it. I'm finally feeling just about back to normal and it's so nice to finally have my energy back and be able to walk normally! Anyway, we are just loving having her in our little family and coudn't imagine being without her!

Man, and I thought I was showing at 20 weeks...haha! Everything is going pretty good with the pregnancy. Just feeling really soar and uncomfortable, but that's normal right? Despite all that, I'm still enjoying this little girl brewin' in my tummy.

I was able to fly out to Austin about a week ago to visit my sister Aubrey and my little niece. Shayna is getting so big and is just so dang cute! She is learning so much and always has the cutest little smile on her face. We all had such a great time together. I can't wait to see them again in a couple months when they fly out for the arrival of our little Cayla!

I have to apologize for the way my blog looks. I tried doing a different template design, but it looks horrible and I don't have the patience to figure out how to fix it right now!

So today is my 20 week milestone! The last 5 months have gone by so fast, I can't believe it! I'm feeling pretty good now except for the headaches I get pretty much everyday and I'm still more tired than normal, but it's nothing too bad. Being pregnant is such an amazing thing, I would never change this experience for anything in the world. It's not the easiest thing, but I love it! I'm finally starting to show where it's actually noticable (especially to me) so I thought I would post a picture. I'm taking photos of myself every 4 weeks to see my progress and it's crazy how much I've already changed! Cade has been wonderful throughout this pregnancy and I don't know what I'd do without him. It's so much fun to lay down at night together and feel her kick up a storm, I can even see my tummy moving when she moves! Anyway, everything is going great and we just can't wait to meet this little girl.

We can't believe it! All this time we thought for sure we were having a little boy! We are so excited, but I still think a little shocked! We feel so blessed to have this little girl be a part of our lives. I have some ultrasound pictures, but it's kinda hard to tell what part is what in them, so I will wait to post some when we go for our 20 week appointment in May. I'm feeling MUCH better now and almost feel back to my normal self! It's so nice to have some energy back and not to feel so nauseous all the time. They say to take advantage of feeling good the second trimester, because the third is about as bad as the first, just in different ways! Anyway, life is great and we couldn't be happier!

We're Havin' a Baby!

I'm so glad we can finally say it!! We wanted to wait until we got our ultrasound to let everybody know, just to be safe :)
I'm about 12 weeks and we just got back from the doctor to see our baby for the first time. It was such an amazing experience and we couldn't be more excited. I couldn't believe how much he (we think it's a boy, but who knows right?) is moving around. It looked like he was on a little bungee cord goin' crazy! Even though we've known I've been pregnant for a while now, today it really hit us. I just couldn't stop smiling looking at the monitor watching everything and seeing the little heartbeat... so neat.
Anyway, life is great and we're so excited for the birth of our little baby on or around September 19th!

Christmas

This is a super late post, but I figure better late than never! Christmas was great. We went to Malad and celebrated it with both of our families. We headed up on Christmas Eve to celebrate my birthday at my parents house (I'm a quarter of a century old!), then woke up early in the morning to open up presents. Right after that we headed straight over to the Beetons house to open presents with them. It was great to be able to spend Christmas with both our families and be there for Shayna and Charlotte's first Christmas! I've posted a few random photos. Can you believe that my little brother is already taller than me? Hey, but I can still beat him in an arm wrestle!! You gotta love George in her Santa hat. I'm not the type of person to dress my cat up, but I saw this hat and thought it was hilarious, so I tortured the poor thing and made her wear it.

We finally got to meet our new niece, Charlotte Bell. Matt (Cade's brother) and Jessica came down to Salt Lake from Boise for Thanksgiving and also to bless their little girl. They stayed with us after the baby blessing until Tuesday. It was so good to be able to spend time with them and little Charlotte. Look at these adorable photos of her! She already loves her Uncle Cade it looks like!

Thanksgiving was great as usual. Cade and I went to Malad and celebrated it with both of our families (yes we had two thanksgiving dinners!). It was so good to be able to spend some time with our family, we feel so grateful to have them in our lives. We love you all sooo much!

Crazy Cat

Ya, we have the weirdest cat... Most cats won't even let you touch their stomach, but our cat likes to lay out on her back like this. I wanted to test her out to see how much she would put up with, so I told everyone to use her as a garbage (we added the remote for some extra weight). She cracks us up.
She's also very spoiled as well. Cade and I wanted to get her a kitty condo so she wouldn't scratch up and use our new furniture. We went to Petco and decided that we weren't going to spend $200 on one, so Cade got the parts from Lowes and made one from scratch. She loves it and it has really done a great job of keeping her off our furniture.

Halloween Fun!

Wow, so much has happened since last time I posted! We finally purchased our first home in Syracuse and are all moved in now. We have lots of projects that we are trying to tackle, but it's been fun being able to do whatever we want with the house. So far we've painted the living room and kitchen and stained our railings, but we still have quite a bit of tile work to do etc. etc. I'll have to post some before and after pictures once everything is complete. We absolutely love this area and couldn't be happier. It's crazy to go from the apartment scene to a neighborhood. We're not used to having friendly neighbors stopping by to see if we need anything. We have some great neighbors and feel so lucky.

For Halloween we had a little family get together at our house. Aubrey and I stayed up late into the night making cute little desserts and getting everything ready for the next day. It was a great turn out and we all had a great time. We took the kids trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, even little Shayna came with us in her cute little angel costume. I made home made chile and rootbeer (a family tradition). Little D was baptised on Halloween as well. I can't believe that little tike is already 8! We celebrated his birthday at our house during our little get-together. Davis was dressed up as Harry Potter, but received some fake mustaches for his birthday that he was sporting! Katie was a cute little Gypsy and Garrett wore a creepy lookin' monster mask. I posted a few random pictures of our little event.

We just got back from camping and fishing up at Lilly Lake in the Uintas for Cade's 25th birthday. We had a really good time and it is sooo beautiful there. I got some pretty cool pictures of the moon, it was one of the prettiest moons I've ever seen. The pictures don't really do justice, but they turned out better than I thought they would. We're definitely planning on going back soon!

Yep, I finally died my hair brown. I've been talking about it for a while, but have been scared to do it! Cade and Aubrey talked me into it and Aubrey ended up doing it for me. It's reallly nice to have a change since my hair has been the same since I was about 14. No more bleach! Now my hair might actually start to grow and get healthy! Cade really likes it, so it's here to stay :)

Ifinally have some pictures of the coolest cat in the world, George. She has an obsession with plastic bags, so everytime we get back from walmart we lay one out for her and she runs full speed and crawls inside the sack, then normally sticks her head out the handle. If she's not inside the sack, she sitting on top of it. She cracks us up. By the way, she looks a little weird because we shaved her a little while back. It's grown out quite a bit, but she's normally crazy fluffy. When we first shaved her she looked like a gorilla, it was hilarious.

Shoshone Falls

Cade and I were able to go see Shoshone Falls today. Cade had a job in Burley and I was able to go with him this time since I had a couple days off. We heard that the falls are flowing more than they have in 15 years, so we decided we better go see them. It was definitely a neat experience.

Cancun!

Layin' out at the beach. The other photo is of the Dolphins at Dreams Cancun. It was so incredible to watch these dolphins! They were trained to do a bunch of different things. You could actually pay money to swim with them and ride on them, but me and Cade didn't have the money to do it, so we just watched. We have lots of video of the dolphins and our vacation, but I need to figure out how to get it on our computer!

They had a live band that played almost every night in one of the lobbies. They were really good and it was funny to listen to them with their spanish accents singing a bunch of popular American songs.

It stormed almost everyday in Cancun, but it would only last for about ten minutes or so, then the sun would come out again. It was awesome to be able to experience the thunderstorms and lightning on the ocean.

Our Vacation

So Cade and I just got back from our vacation to Cancun and here are some pictures from our trip! It is absolutely beautiful there and sooo relaxing. Pretty much all we did was play in the ocean, layout at the beach and eat. They had amazing food there and we just couldn't get enough of it! The ocean water was almost like bath water and was so clear that you could see to the bottom. We stayed at the Dreams Resort and Spa and I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone, it was awesome. We're back to reality now, but it's still good to be home :)

These first pictures are the view from our room. They had weddings almost everyday at the gazebo so we got to watch a few of them from our balcony. It was pretty neat!

Shootin' Guns

Cade and I went to Malad for Cade's little Sister, Vanessa's Graduation. I'm waiting for my mother-in-law to send me pictures from her graduation so I can post them, but here's some of us going shooting before the graduation. I shot a mussle loader for the first time. I missed the target of course, but it was a pretty cool gun to shoot (the kick scared the crap outa me!). We were also able to see Matt and Jessica (my brother and sister-in-law) which was pretty neat because they live and Boise and we don't get to see them often. Jessica is due in September so I thought it was pretty awesome that she was out there shooting with us!

Here is my latest drawing that I drew for Aubrey to put in the baby room. This is one of our favorite baby pictures. We used to just love bath time.

Aubrey had little Shayna yesterday around 1:00 in the afternoon. She's 6 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long. She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. She has lots of dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. Aubrey had a very long labor and it didn't go as planned. She ended up having to have an emergency c-section because the cord was around Shayna's neck and it was extremely tight. Aubrey seems to be recovering well, but she is very tired (Brad's exhausted too). I took a bunch of pictures so I will be posting them soon!

We took my mom to Vegas to watch a show for part of her Christmas present. The photo is of Cade, me, Brad, Aubrey and my Mom. This was our first year spending Christmas with her since I was two years old. It was really special to all of us.

So we got some bad news, the appraisal for the home we were going to move into came in lower than the purchase price, so me and Cade are moving on! We thought we were getting a great deal out of this since our realtor told us that comps in the area were coming in at $20,000 more than our purchase price, but that obviously wasn't the case. Me and Cade aren't too bummed, we figure that everything happens for a reason and this just wasn't the house for us. I'll be looking at more homes tomorrow around North Ogden up by the bench of the mountains (this is the area we originally wanted to live in). Cade is in Rawlins WY right now, so I'll be looking at the homes myself, but I have a handy little video camera I'll be taking along with me so I can show Cade. Hopefully we find one soon, but we're not going to rush into anything! We want it to be perfect!

Our New Home

Cade and I have been very busy this month looking for our first home! After lots of research and looking at tons of homes, we found one that we love! It's a three bedroom two bath split level home with a large den in the basement . Our inspector was very impressed with the home and he said it looks like the owner really took great care of it. We are so excited to be able to move in and can't wait to have a space of our own, and of course I can't wait to be able to paint and decorate how ever I want! Our home is located in Ogden Ut and our closing date is on or before April 10th.

Cade has been busy as usual with his job, and I just got hired on to work at the Olive Garden. Training starts April 6th and that's when Aubrey is due, so I'm hoping that Shayna decides to come early so I don't have to juggle that into my schedule! I let the manager know that my sister is 9 months pregnant and could have the baby at any time and that it's extremely important that I'm there. He was very understanding and told me they can work around anything as long as I let them know, so that's good! I'm still working for my Dad as a credit specialist for Crossroads Mortgage, so I'm gonna be a busy girl with both jobs! I just figure I might as well work while I can before Cade and I start having babies! I would rather work a lot then sit at home and have nothing to do at all. Anyway, that's our exciting news so far for this month. I'll try to get some more pictures posted on my blog!

Aubrey was able to get a 4D ultrasound today and here's a picture of what Shayna looks like at almost 8 months. In all the ultrasound pictures it looks like she's smiling in them. Aubrey said her and Brad were cracking up when they were doing the video because it looked like she was laughing and havin' a good ole time in there! Aubrey thinks she looks a lot like me when I was a baby. It's so amazing what technology can do these days! We love you Shayna!

Here's a message from my Dad about the Sky Trials him and my little brother just attended. This is a big event for falconers and it's one that my Dad attends to every year-

"Garrett’s bird (My bird Officially) Verdugo, Hybrid Gyr/Prairie Falcon, took 4th Place at this year’s Utah Sky Trials. He flew good, just got out flown by three other fine falcons. Pictures here are of Garrett casting off Verdugo in the event and then one of me and Daryl Peterson with our Peregrines. Mine is a female and she WON the event last year. Daryl’s is her brother and MATE (kind of an incestuous relationship!) and he brought him to the event and entered him in it too. Garrett snapped this shot of us together. Both of them fly way better on a daily basis than they did for the event, but it was kind of a neat story to tell everyone down there, about how they make babies together after the hawking season. Garrett and I got interviewed by “At Your Liesure”, Reese Stein was the reporter. We’ll probably be on their program in three weeks. Reese has interviewed Garrett before and put him on KUTV a couple of years ago. Watch for it on KUTV Channel 4 on Saturday night or Sunday morning in three weekends from now."

My dad has been involved in falconery for over 12 years now and Garrett has been taggin' along with him since he was just a little guy. This sport is pretty amazing. It's pretty neat to be able to watch these birds go thousands of feet up in the air, then dive down for the kill (you can actually hear them as they're going for the kill since their speed is so incredible).

I know it's not that long, but you gotta realize that we've been dating for over 6 years now! Our wedding was a beautiful day and it was so nice to be able to see family and friends I haven't seen for quite some time. My sister Aubrey was the best and practically did everything for me. So I finally started my blog! I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I get too busy with life and never remember to do it! Me and my highschool sweetheart Cade are living here in Layton Ut and life is great. Cade is busy working for Emerson Instrument and Valve where he is employed as a Field Service Technician and I'm keeping busy working for my dad as a Credit Specialist for Crossroads Mortgage. I get to work from home, so I feel very grateful for this job. I also love it because I get to travel with Cade whenever he has to leave since I can just bring my little laptop with me and continue working. We don't have any kids yet, as I'm sure all of you know, but we do have a little persian cat that we just love. I know I sound like a crazy cat person, but she really is the coolest cat. Her name is George (don't ask me why is become George, it just did). My mother-in-law jokes that we aren't going to have kids because we love the dang cat so much! I've had her since she was just a baby, so we've been through the tough times together! Anyway, enough about her, I'm sounding more crazy the more I talk about her. The best news I have along with the most exciting news is that my sister is having a little baby girl in April! She's due April 6th, but we think (hope) she's going to have her earlier. Her name will be Shayna Nicole and she is just gonna love her aunt Nicole because I'm gonna spoil her to death! I'm sooo excited to be an aunt, I just can't wait for her to be born. Aubrey can't wait either, not just because she excited to see her little girl, but she's getting a little tired of being pregnant as most women are around the 7th to 8th month. She's loved the whole experience, but it's getting to the point where she can't sleep and little Shayna likes to creep up in her ribs so she can't breathe. Aubrey's worried she might need to get a c-section because Shayna hasn't turned yet, and she was suppose to have turned a while ago (She's laying horizontal). I hope everything turns out ok. Well, this is a super long blog and I could probably go on forever, but I'll save the rest for another day and I'll be adding pictures soon!
